It’s almost Summer and we’re going to have a nice, sunny weekend. The water is up to 68 degrees and warming up. We’ve had a few fun skills practices and I’m motivated for more. It’s nice to see the smiles and hear the laughs.
All skill levels are welcome. You can also choose to participate or even just watch for now if you’re more comfortable with that. These practices are fun and there’s so much we learn from each other.
If you haven’t joined us in prior years, this is an informal practice; we help each other; offer a supportive opportunity to learn some new skills and practice those that have rusted out over the winter. The water temp is about 68 but the air can be cool; so can the wind; you might want to wear a splash jacket at the least. If you’d like to practice rescues, you’ll want to dress for immersion. Getting into the water is your choice. We may also work on some strokes. It depends on the flow of the morning. We’re usually out for about 2-3 hours and generally have lunch afterwards at the deli.”
Kayak rentals are available from Aqua Adventures at their regular rates.
If you’re launching at Aqua Adventures, please use their dock. That is the one closest to shore. Please do not use the other docks such as the ones by the Duffy boats.
I and some others will be launching from Aqua Adventures. Some people will be launching from other locations and meet us over at Mariner’s Cove in Mariner’s Basin.
Parking is available in the dirt lot across the street from Aqua Adventures. Please arrive by 8:30 to organize your boat and gear. We’ll leave Aqua Adventures’ dock at 9:00 am sharp and head over to Mariner’s Basin.
The announcer of this event is not the leader of such, merely a “coordinator”. You are responsible for your own safety.
Disclaimer: We will have experienced paddlers on this trip, but they will not be responsible for telling you what is or is not safe for you to do. We watch out for one another and assist one another, but all individuals are responsible for, and manage their own safety. This responsibility includes assessing your gear, skill level, and physical conditioning relative to conditions and location, as well as making decisions about what you will or will not do. Participants acknowledge that kayaking on the open sea or bay is inherently dangerous and can lead to physical injury including death as well as property damage. Participants, on their behalf and on behalf of their heirs and assignees, agree to hold the announcers and other participants blameless in the event of such injury, damage or death. Please join us if you want to mildly stretch your capabilities, but please stay home if you would be wildly stretching them.
